Coastal Sciences Graduate Student Awards & Scholarships

Several awards and scholarships are available to COA students each year.  While the application process is different, the application deadline is February 15 for all award and scholarship opportunities.

COA Awards

There are two COA awards available for COA students: McIlwain and Overstreet. Applications must be submitted directly to the COA Awards Committee and are due on February 15 each year. COA Awards provide funds through a reimbursement process. Selected recipients must provide original supporting documentation (e.g., receipts) and submit a “Request for Withdrawal of Foundation Funds” through the USM Foundation. Recipients must coordinate with Darcie Graham to submit paperwork for reimbursement, which must be submitted to the USM Foundation no later than May 31 of each year. Full details about eligibility and application information are available below and in linked announcements.

COA Scholarships

There are two COA scholarships available for COA students: Baron and Lytle.  Applications must be submitted through the USM Foundation GO system (www.usmfoundation.com/go). Applications can be submitted between September 1 – February 15 each year. Recipients are selected before the end of the Spring semester and funds are distributed to student accounts during the next academic year, according to the terms of the scholarship. Full details about eligibility for each COA scholarship are available below.
